It could be drawn in big, red, three-dimensional capital letters with three exclamation points and wavy lines or it could be drawn in lower case letters in solid black with one exclamation point. In a comic or graphic novel the 'bang' would be interpreted mostly by how it is drawn. Also I think the second example falls flat. It would be fine if this guy is your narrator. I don't think the second suits a neutral, near invisible narrator. Now both could work depending on the narrator's voice.
